The “Su e Zo per i ponti” that in Venetian means up and down bridges, was conceived by Father Dino Berti. What he wanted to create was a non-competitive track event to enjoy Venice in a funnier way. In fact, to this amazing race take part group of people both from Venice and the hinterland, children, young people, families, old people and everybody who wants to enjoy a different way of visiting Venice. The competition takes place at the beginning of spring, between March and April. Participants can choose amongst three different ways.
|
The shortest one is of three kilometres, it is indicated to children and old people. The second one is of ten kilometres and the last one, that has been thought for more professional participants, is of 14 kilometres. But the common idea is always the same: to enjoy together a pleasant Sunday in Venice. Starts are two: the first one is at 10.00, the second one at 10.30. But if the start is fixed, it cannot be said the same for the end. Participants have to take their time because this is also a way to meet new people. All along the way there are many refreshment points to restore participants. Both star and finishing are at Piazza San Marco.
From there the tack continues along the Bacino di San Marco till the Arsenale. Then participants run in the more interior part of Venice, visiting hidden campi and calli that even if they are less know they are attractive as the more known places. From there, participants go towards the Hospital to continue their run along the Fondamenta Nuove till the railway station and Piazzale Roma. Then they go back to Piazza San Marco where they receive a medal for their commitment.
