S. Erasmo Regatta 2008

Traditional appointment with Venice and the historical races scheduled for next June 2, the Regatta S. Erasmo will take place on boats known as "pupparini 2 oars" and reserved for three categories Teenagers, Women and Men.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Venice (Directorate Tourism, Protection of Traditions) and falls within the schedule for the regatta season 2008, that takes place from April to September and in which are included: the Regatta �de La Sensa�, the Regatta of SS. John and Paul, the appointments of Murano, Malamocco and Pellestrina, the Regatta of the Redeemer and the awaited and conclusive Venice Historical Regatta (scheduled for next September 7).

Music at Carlo Goldoni's time

The series of concerts devoted to composers that were contemporary with the famous Venetian author is still continuing: at the House of Carlo Goldoni, among the most admired palaces in Venice, on May 16th and 30th and also on June 6th and 27th (always on Friday) you can listen to music by Vivaldi, Mozart, H�ndel, Bach, Haydn (the last one also composed music for some Goldoni's works) and many others.

Born in Venice on February 25, 1707 and died in Paris on February 6, 1793, Goldoni is considered one of the fathers of Italian comedy, with an immense literary production that is primarily made up of comedies and booklets for the theatre. The event is organized by the cultural association �MusicaVenezia�.

Up and Down Across the Bridges of Venice

Sunday April 13 will take place one of the most popular among the traditional events of Venice: the marathon "Su and Zo per i ponti" (Up and Down Across the Bridges). This is a non-competitive road race that takes place each year between March and April, when the temperature begins to become milder and it is more pleasant stay outdoors.

Now on its twenty-ninth edition, the event is open to all and offers the opportunity to live a day in spring in a very funny way, between the Venetian bridges and streets. All participants will be delivered, at the end of the race, a medal of remembrance. The departure is scheduled by 10 a.m. from Ponte della Paglia, close to the Palazzo Ducale.

Macchiaioli in Venice

Festival of the Sea

The seventh edition of Venice Yatch Show - Festival of the Sea this year will provide the opportunity to take advantage thanks to a series of events particularly interesting through exhibitions and conferences focused on established ship-yards both Italian and international, an exhibition dedicated to the Italian nautical tradition (from origins to the present day) and numerous sporting events that can enrich the program.

Spheres of the Heavens, Spheres of the Earth

Until 29 February 2008, in Museo Correr, is possible to visit an interesting exhibition dedicated entirely to celestial and terrestrial globes (from 16th to 20th Century). �Spheres of the Heavens, Spheres of the Earth� is an event organized by Marica Milanesi and Rudolf Schmidt, and allows to esteem deeply more than 140 works coming from the Museo Correr itself, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana and several private collections. The exhibition is focused particularly on globes realized by Venetian friar Vincenzo Coronelli (1650-1718), one of the most renowned cartographers and globemakers of seventeenth century.

Venice Christmas market

64th Venice International Film Festival

The 64th Venice International Film Festival, will be held on the Venice Lido from 29th August to 8th September 2007.

The line-up of the Festival includes Venezia 64-In Competition, Venezia 64-Out of Competition, Orizzonti, Corto Cortissimo, and Secret History of Italian Cinema 4.

The 75th anniversary Golden Lion is to be awarded to Bernardo Bertolucci, the Golden Lion for lifetime achievement to Tim Burton, the celebratory events are directed by Alexander Kluge, and the retrospective is dedicated to �Spaghetti Westerns�.

the fourth bridge on the Gran Canal in Venice

This new bridge shows the aim of Venice to become a model for contemporary architecture and art.
The two bridge shoulders were carried on board on the night between the 27th and 28th July and put up during the following two days, 28th and 19th July. The central arch - which is 60 mt long and weighs 270 tonns - has arrived just today and it will be placed between 11th and 12th August.
There is a new symbol in Venice, the fourth bridge projected by Santiago Calatrava.

It's an international exhibition of contemporary art based on the use of textiles, to become part of a genuine creative act.

This exhibition at Palazzo Mocenigo presents 54 minitextiles works chosen by an accurate international jury and in addiction to these works, the exhibition presents three large-scale installations by Akio Hamatani, Naomi Nakashima and Kiyonori Shimada.

Where Time Becomns Art

This exhibition examines the relationship between art, aesthetic, time and the power of display, an iinterconnection represented by featuring over 300 objects, collected from rare archaeological materials to contemporary installations. Over 80 artists are involvend in ths celebration of time rapresentation, works by Francis Bacon, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Giacometti, James Turell, Pablo Picasso and many other. Sargent and Venice

After �Turner and Venice�, another show which charts a great artist�s response to the city and its lagoon: John Singer Sargent (1856-1925). Housed within the neoclassical rooms on the first floor of the Museo Correr, the exhibition includes approximately seventy works (paintings and watercolours), a relaiable evidence of Sargent's mastery to recreate on canvas the atmosphere taken from an unsual point of view: Sargent in fact used to discover Venice slowly sailing on a gondola and paint his watercolour and drawings.

An accompanying book (published in Italian by Electa) contains essays by scholars including Warren Adelson, Elaine Kilmurray, Elizabeth Oustinoff, Richard Ormond, Rosella Mamoli Zorzi and Giandomenico Romanelli.

This exhibition is a wonderful way to have a nice holiday in hotel Venice discovering how this city influenced great artists along centuries.

Vogalonga 2007

A successful Carnival

The last Venice's Carnival was based on the celebration of Carlo Goldoni, because in 2007 it will be the Tricentenary of this writer and playwright, one of the most representative artists in our Venetian literary and theatrical tradition. And more than anyone else, he will represent the Carnival's "folklore", its popularity, its being "everybody's event", no one excluded

Thousand of tourists swarmed onto Venice's square and 'calli', because Carnival will not only be St Mark's Square. Children found their "Enchanted Wood" in Campo San Polo, with lots of animation and games, only for the smallest, while youngsters enjoyed music in Campo Bella Vienna, with the best trend groups of the moment. But at the end of this Carnival Venice is already working for new exhibition and events near the Hotel Venice ...come back soon for more detailed informations.

New Year's evening in Venice

In the last night of 2006 some people come to Venice to say goodbye to 2006 and to greet new year. In the pass moment, about 60 miles peoples was in San Marco Square, looking up to the sky to see the elegant fireworks that was played on music rythm.
The fest was in every "calle" in Venice, some people stay in pubs and on the ways until morning.
