First of all we suggest you to choose what you really want to see in Venice because to visit all the city with its ancient churches, interesting museums, historical buildings, characteristic calli and colorful campi can take a long time. Do not forget a detailed map to take always with you. To visit the city with all its small calli and bridges seems as to be in a complicated labyrinth. For inexpert tourist it will be easy to get lost! If it happens, do not worry, up your eyes and find the direction written in yellow signs on many buildings. The main sightseeing, such as Piazza San Marco, Rialto, Accademia, and arrival and departure points, Piazzale Roma e Stazione, are written on them.
If you speak a bit of Italian and you fell enough self-confident, you should ask to the Venetians that are always helpful! If you do not have enough time your itinerary should includes Piazza San Marco, considered the heart of the city, with buildings around it. The piazza is surrounded by Palazzo Ducale, a masterpiece of gothic art, Basilica, with its gilded mosaics and the Procuratie Vecchie e Nuove. For ages this place has been the political and religious center of the city. Than, move to Rialto, one of the three bridge that cross the Canal Grande.
It is easily reachable from the Piazza, just five minutes walking from there. The current Rialto Bridge, that was built in the half of the Sixteenth century, replaced a wooden one. If you feel enough brave we think that the most exciting way to visit the city and discovering the most charming places is just walking around it without map or any specific place to reach.
