Venice offers to its visitors a large variety of museums, art gallery, permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions that take place throughout all the year long. To visit all museums it is almost impossible, but there are a few that can be considered the most significant. This is the case of Gallerie dell’Accademia, with the most important Italian collection of painting of the Venetian school, Peggy Guggenheim collection, the most considerable museum of the European and American art of the beginning of the XX century, Doge’s Palace, in the past it was the seat of the executive and legal power of the Serenissima. For those who are deeply interested in Venice and its history, the Correr Museum offers a large selection of dated documents, painting an other artistic and historical finds and information useful to comprehend Venice and its past. At Ca’ Pesaro there is an inestimable collection of oriental works of art, collected in the past by Enrico Barbone.

At Ca’ D’Oro, that in the past was the most luxurious and extravagant building of the city, there are many masterpieces of the most prominent artist like Mantegna and Carpaccio. For ages Venice has had an important link with the sea, it was the reason of its successful past. In the Naval Historical Museum, many marvelous and ancient gondolas as well we other treasures of the ancient Serenissima Republic are exposed to remind it. The Jewish Museum is remarkable for its high historical and religious value. It has several works of art related to the Jewish life in the two synagogues.
