Favaro Veneto

Favaro Veneto is one town really close to Venice. Its name refers to fabbro that means blacksmith. Two are the main interpretations. The first one assumed that the place was a stop along the ancient Roman road where there was a blacksmith that shoed horses. The second one said that in the town there were several blacksmiths. In the past Favaro laid in a zone made of overhead green ground alternated with marsh. It was thanks to the improvements made by the Serenissima and continued in the 1800s and 1900s that the land radically changed. The hydraulic system was improved, it was made the cutting of Merzenago and the area was drained. 

Favato Veneto is a little contry near Venice

Nowadays there is just one river left, the Bazzera, that is useful for the agriculture and fields. Fields were cultivated in métayer system under the control of the Serenissima and later under the control of the Italian State. Consequently a community of people born in the middle of this large expanse of cultivated fields. Between the 1819 and 1866 Favaro was under the control of the Austrian and then between 1866 and 1926 it became an Italian Municipality that controlled also the towns of Campalto, Tessera, Dese and Ca’ Noghera. The town council was erected in 1873 with a classic façade that face the major square of Favaro: Piazza Pastrello. The Residential area is built a bit farther, close to the Church of Sant’Andrea. Thanks to its position, close to Mestre and Marghera, in these last decades, Favaro has seen increased the number of inhabitants.
